Seventy Christians Martyred in Brutal Church Massacre in the DRC
In a heartbreaking act of brutality, seventy Christians were found beheaded inside a Protestant church in Kasanga, Lubero Territory, in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The massacre, discovered late last week, has sent shockwaves through the Christian community worldwide.
According to Open Doors, a ministry supporting persecuted Christians, the victims were taken hostage days before their horrific execution. Their hands were tied, and they were mercilessly slaughtered—one by one—inside the house of God. Field sources strongly suspect the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a jihadist group affiliated with the Islamic State, to be responsible for the atrocity.
Local authorities, including Military Administrator Alain Kiwewa, have launched an investigation, while regional sources confirm that the ADF and other armed groups have been terrorizing Christian communities for months. Reports indicate that the victims were kidnapped on February 12 before being subjected to this unimaginable horror.
The news has left Christian believers across the world grieving and calling for justice. American Christian activist Lila Rose took to X, saying, “Horrific. 70 Christians were brutally beheaded by an Islamist group inside a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Where’s the media outrage? Pray for persecuted Christians.”
The church, once a sanctuary of worship and hope, became a place of unspeakable suffering. Their blood now cries out from the ground, calling for justice and the prayers of the faithful. The global Christian community mourns, even as faith remains unshaken in the face of such darkness.
The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DRC has been contacted for comment, but the silence of the international community remains deafening.
